EDUCATION
1980-1986    Ph.D. in the Oceanography Department, U.C.G., thesis
title: 'Charge and aerosol production by breaking waves'
1977-1978 M.Sc. (distinction) in physical oceanography at
University College of North Wales.
1974-1977 B.A.  in experimental physics at Cambridge.

EMPLOYMENT

2004-present Consultant specialising in coastal oceanography and surge tides.
2003-2005 Post doctoral research associate, N.U.I., Galway.
1991-2003 Lecturer in oceanography, N.U.I., Galway.
1988-1991 Postdoctoral Research fellow at Southampton, working
on bubble particle interactions and mixed layer dynamics. A model
of Langmuir circulation was combined with bubble-particle interaction
to assess the important factors in producing stable bubbles in the ocean.
1986-1988 Postdoctoral research fellow at Southampton, working
on surge tides at Barrow, in the Irish Sea. A statistical prediction
algorithm was produced and a model of surge propagation in the channel
was constructed.
