Calculation of elevation and flow of currents in harbour approaches
As a navigational aid, Seamode Oceanographic can calculate currents and elevations in a fine scale grid in the approach to a harbour. In the model shown below and right, currents in the vicinity of a harbour in the Persian Gulf are shown. Where channel depths are critical, we can also calculate tidal elevations at all model grid points for different points in time.
Seamode Oceanographic can present you with clear tidal current information like this for any desired time, or with interactive charts for different time frames.
In many areas, flows are strongly affected by the wind; our models can include wind driven flows for periods of interest. Wind driven flows tend to be basin wide phenomena, so basin wide models are needed in this context.
We can also develop these models further so that forecasts of flows are possible, driven by met forecasts.
